Meet our Deputy Quality Manager- Hadyn Veale

Hadyn’s role as a deputy quality manager includes facilitating the quality manager with any tasks or duties, carrying out technical reviews of reports, liaising with the management team/typists/surveyors ensuring consistently high quality standards, deal with any questions/complaints or issues that may arise from the surveyors or clients regarding the asbestos reports or surveying, deliver training and carry out audits/re-surveys etc.

The things Hadyn enjoys most about his job is the sense of achievement he gets from the consistent level of the reports being at a high standard, being part of a management team that maintains the high standard of the surveyors and typists and also being part of the Allium team ethos which is ‘nothing is too much trouble’.

With Allium approaching its 4th year of business we thought it was about time we gave our website a more personal touch! Over the years we have felt that our website has provided a place for information and enquiry submission but not given the viewer full information about our experience in the industry.

Our new website will feature testimonials from our valued and supportive clients and case studies showcasing some of our most interesting jobs.

We have had some fantastic feedback about our branding. People have said that it stands out and is memorable! So with this in mind we will be keeping all our branding the same but just enhancing our content and telling you more about our dynamic team!

The Scillonian

Despite successfully undertaking complex survey work all over the UK, our Cornish heritage is something that we are very proud of as we were founded here; so when we were recently commissioned to carry out a survey to the passenger ferry that connects Cornwall to the Isles of Scilly we were delighted to assist.

The Scillonian passenger ferry service is based in Penzance and has been the Isles of Scilly’s lifeline for almost a century. Scillonian III the current ship was launched in 1977 and can carry 485 passengers.

Our surveyors have many years’ experience of working on ships so they are used to coming up against the challenges they present. For example the engine rooms can contain very tight spaces and are hot to work in.

The ferry service usually runs daily but it is currently in dry dock whilst maintenance and upgrade works take place. Our survey is supporting part of the maintenance works so we had to act quickly and efficiently to carry out the survey as it had to be done before any other contractors could move in and start work.

Annual maintenance is carried out every winter to ensure that it is kept in tip top condition. 2018 sees the addition of Wi-Fi for all passengers!

Job Summary

As part of the continued growth of our UKAS accredited Asbestos Surveying Consultancy we are seeking candidates to fill the role of Asbestos Operations Coordinator within our Head Office (near Truro). The position will provide professional, proactive and reliable support to a team of Asbestos Surveyors and will report to the Operations Manager.

Allium’s mission is to provide a trusted, approachable and professional asbestos consultancy that is progressive whilst maintaining the highest level of quality and integrity.

Previous experience of working within an asbestos consultancy or knowledge of asbestos would be ideal, however full training will be given.

As this role will be client facing it is imperative that you have a professional, polite and friendly telephone manner, you’ll be comfortable and confident speaking with a variety of different clients on the phone.

As the role supports a highly reactive team you’ll be proactive, reliable, adaptable and be able to re-prioritise with ease with a ‘can do’ attitude; team work is essential and your ability to be flexible and ‘get stuck in’ will allow you to thrive in this position. Previous experience with ‘booking in appointments’ would be ideal.

Excellent attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills are essential along with excellent time management skills and following tasks through to completion.

Being a quick learner, enthusiastic, dedicated and hardworking; being able to work on own initiative and as part of a team are crucial to this role.

You must be proficient working with MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) and hold good IT skills.
