Who is Responsible

If you are responsible for maintenance or repair, you normally have a legal responsibly as the duty holder.

When was it built

If your building was built during or after 2000, it is unlikely to contain asbestos. If it was built prior to 2000, you should assume the building could contain asbestos.

Existing Information

Prior to consulting with us, it is always useful to gain existing information relating to the building, such as plans and reports, this is helpful when providing a cost for surveying work. (Take note of any existing asbestos surveys, but don’t rely on them as asbestos may have been missed).

Asbestos Management Survey

The purpose of the asbestos management survey, is to find and manage asbestos containing material which may be encountered during normal occupation of the building.

Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey

This is required where the premises, or part of it, need upgrading, refurbishment or demolition.

Asbestos Sampling

Samples are taken of suspected asbestos material to identify the presence and type of asbestos fibres, these are undertaken in a controlled manner and analysed by accredited laboratories.

Material Risk Assessment

All identified asbestos will have a risk assessment score based upon the type and condition of the asbestos material.

Asbestos Management Plan

The plan should bring together all available relevant information, it should set out what actions need to be done by whom and by when, such as remedial work or periodic checks.

Re-inspection Survey

Consists of inspecting asbestos material which has not been removed and remain in situ, to establish the material’s condition.

Keep your records up to date

Update your asbestos register whenever you have work undertaken, check materials at least once a year. You will also need to review your management plan annually to make sure it is still effective.
