Allium Environmental have recently completed a successful programme of asbestos surveys to various buildings within HMS Drake, Plymouth. Her Majesty’s Naval Base, Devonport is one of three operating bases in the United Kingdom for the Royal Navy and is the sole nuclear repair and refuelling facility for the Royal Navy and is the largest naval base in Western Europe.
In 2021 we began a programme of surveys to assist our client Mitie with their asbestos related compliance and to undertake a full schedule of new management surveys to the over 40 buildings that make up the site. We supplied two surveyors on site for approximately 3 months working closely with the site team we have been able to schedule and complete the surveys within the agreed timescales.
The main challenge was working around the live base environment and to not cause disruption to the day-to-day operations. Allium are well versed on working within these types of environments and the different challenges that they can present.
Our client is also making use of our Asbestos Management Software, AlphaTracker, we are able to quickly present the management team with a complete overview of their asbestos survey results, and they also have the ability to login to our system at any time, should they require any documentation or certificates for compliance reasons.
Allium are now also involved in assisting Mitie at Project Armada in producing asbestos removal scopes and undertaking refurbishment surveys as part of planned upgrade works.
“Allium Environmental continually to provide support to Mitie Project Armada within HMS Drake in undertaking asbestos refurbishment surveys and annual inspections in a very timely manner. Allium’s professionalism and dedication as a service provider is excellent and through collaborative working all aims and objectives are achieved.”
