Allium were recently commissioned by ADT Fire and Security to carry out a refurbishment asbestos survey at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance.
West Cornwall Hospital facilitates 80 beds and is a busy acute diagnostic and treatment centre. It provides in-patient and day care treatments and surgery.
Allium were asked to conduct the survey to the hospital to aid the installation of a new fire alarm system to six hospital blocks.
Large amounts of planning by our Project Managers was required prior to the commencement of works as the site is a fully operational and working hospital.
Our lead surveyor on the project liaised with the warden on site and together they produced a program so that we could access the wards and theatres whilst un-occupied. As soon as we had completed the survey in a particular room patients were able to re-access and gain the treatment required.
Before Allium could mobilise on site all surveyors who were going to be working on site had to undergo an induction. Our surveyors had to watch a short video and complete a test. This induction was vital in the planning of the project as without this we wouldn’t have been able to even gain access to the site.
Allium worked very closely with ADT to ensure the programming of the job ran like clockwork. Allium had to begin in the blocks requested by ADT so that as soon as we had completed our surveys ADT’s contractors could quickly come in straight after us to begin their works.
Allium are proud to have worked with ADT on the project as they are the UK’s leading integrated alarm and security systems provider for homes and businesses.
“Allium were a pleasure to work with, they completed the works without any fuss and provided the information that we required in a good time with the required level of detail.”
