Allium is extremely proud to have recently achieved the best AIMS laboratory 3 round classification rating. The 3 round classification is the primary assessment measure because it reflects the performance of a laboratory over a period of time.
Asbestos In Materials Scheme (AIMS) assesses the performance of laboratories carrying out the identification of asbestos in bulk materials. The AIMS scheme is operated by HSE.
UK laboratories are required to be accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO 17025 to undertake analysis as part of assessing whether materials contain asbestos under the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR).
A laboratory will receive one of four classifications – Good, Acceptable, Unsatisfactory or Awaiting.
• Good – awarded when the cumulative score over 3 rounds is 7 or less
• Acceptable – awarded when the cumulative score over 3 rounds is from 8 to 32
• Unsatisfactory – awarded when the cumulative score over 3 rounds is more than 32
• Unclassified – reserved for participants awaiting classification (those who haven’t completed 3 rounds of AIMS)
