Allium Environmental have recently been requested to support NHS Property Services (NHSPS) by undertaking an emergency asbestos survey at Falmouth Health Centre Cornwall.
NHSPS was commissioned to manage the conversion of the existing pharmacy into a decontamination facility to support the Falmouth Health Centre during the COVID 19 pandemic. Having the decontamination facility within the centre will provide the staff with safe decontamination procedures when treating patients with potential COVID 19 symptoms.
Working in conjunction with NHSPS, Allium needed to respond quickly to the changing environment and needed to work closely with NHSPS to ensure there was little disruption to patients and staff at the centre.
Allium carried out the survey and provided interim recommendations the day after the initial request, completing the survey and providing our client with the final report and recommendations within a further 24 hours.
NHSPS appointed Gwella Contracting Services Ltd to undertake asbestos removal works and made arrangements for the work to be undertaken outside of normal working hours, who also reacted with the same level of urgency to ensure the works were completed within the quickest possible time.
The GP now has two fully refurbished consultation rooms and a decontamination room, forming an assessment suite that will help them to better assess and treat the local population.
“Both Allium and Gwella have responded brilliantly with regards to their response regarding this project and I can’t thank them enough for all their support and professionalism throughout the works.
