Did you know that The Control of Lead at Work Regulations 2002 (CLAW) place a duty on employers to prevent, or where this is not reasonably practicable, to control employee exposure to lead?

The basis of this, similar to the CAR 2012 requires a survey to establish the presence of lead prior to undertaking refurbishment projects.

Allium have recently been supporting more knowledgeable Main Contractors with lead sampling and surveys alongside asbestos surveys on projects where old paintwork is present and will be disturbed during building works.

Our trained staff and strict decontamination and hygiene procedures allow us to address the risks to our own staff and building occupants when sampling for lead on projects.

Young children are particularly vulnerable to the toxic effects of lead and can suffer profound and permanent adverse health effects, particularly affecting the development of the brain and nervous system. Lead also causes long-term harm in adults, including increased risk of high blood pressure and kidney damage.

Lead paint was not banned in the UK until 1992, so buildings built prior to the ban which are undergoing refurbishment should have paint testing undertaken.

We can assist you with sampling and surveying for lead and advise on and arrange safe removal of lead from your premises.
