The Geffrye Museum of the Home is an 18th Century grade 1 listed building situated in Hoxton, London. Since January 2018 the museum has been closed for a 2 year transformational development. The museum is having £18m spent on it to improve access and open up more spaces for the public to view.

Allium were fortunate enough to secure the order to carry out a refurbishment survey prior to the works commencing on behalf of Quinn London. We were delighted to be a part of the development which people will be able to enjoy for years to come.

The survey was carried out in accordance with our UKAS 17020 accreditation, control of Asbestos regulations 2012 and HSG264 the surveying guide.

Due to works being in a museum our onsite team had to be mindful and sympathetic towards the surroundings.
The surveyor was required to take samples of any suspect materials within the areas requested in the scope of the project. Any making good was also required after taking the samples to maintain the aesthetics of the internal structure.

Once our surveyor collected the data on his tablet it was sent to our head office where the finished survey report was generated by our team. This report was issued to Quinn within our set KPI and allowed the project to proceed onto the next stage.

This was Allium’s first job with Quinn London. We were pleased to be able to collaborate with them on this scheme and look forward to working with them in the future.
