The Inventory of Hazardous Materials was introduced in the 2009 Hong Kong Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships. When the convention becomes compulsory, all ships visiting European ports will be required to be compliant with EU Legislation by the end of 2020. Hazards that are commonly found on vessels include Asbestos, PCBs, TBTs, ODS and microbiological contaminants. During June/July, Allium carried out a range of surveys on vessels based with in the UK from super yachts, dredgers, support and chartered vessels.
We are also waiting for restrictions to be lifted to enable us to undertake surveys on vessels located across the globe, where we will mobilise our surveyors via our logistics team to attend the vessel at a suitable location which best fits with trading patterns.
